¡ Comunistas en La Plaza de Armas!
Demonstrating in front of the Palacios de Justicia y de Gobierno.
Blocking the andador. I was on my way to buy yarn, but I had to go back for the camera and el sr J.
This is the very spot where Sub-commandante Marcos spoke to the crowd a few years ago during the presidential campaign. These demonstrators, on the other hand, are a crowd speaking to a building.
All they want is dialogo...
and a place to rest.
We've been to Tequisquiapan three times since we moved here and we never saw these guys. What we saw was lots of tourists who rely on these guys to do their jobs.
See the hammer and sickle? We hadn't seen that many red flags since the big anti-Pinochet march in Seville back in 1985. Or was it the anti-Bush War rally in DC in 2001? Or the anti-Viet Nam War rally in 1969? Or...?
And what are their demands? The guy with the bullhorn (far left, above) explained: land, better schools, higher pay, equality for women. Pretty darn radical. Do you think the Governor was listening? Will there be dialogo? Our breath is bated.
