MORE STUFF ON THE MOVE

My querida hermana couldn't believe we still had stuff to get rid of. Here's some of it, priced to sell.

And then there's the auction in Jane Lew. Who had to lift heavy stuff when she said she never would again?

And it's still not all gone. But the truck is!

EL HERMANO DEL SR JUBILADO/LOS CUñADOS

BAF and MAF came to say adios and helped us to get rid of mas cosas.

Hasta la vista. Nos vemos en México.

¡HOLA PILOTO!

We tried to post this yesterday, but apparently Google was reluctant to accept teabagger slogans! Anyway, feliz cumpleaños to you. . .a day late and a peso short.
For the rest of you readers, Nick is our nieto mayor.

LAST WV TO PA TRIP

See you in the primavera (spring), Mother and Charles

Adios to viejos amigos, Barb and Tom. Tom and el señor Jubilado sang together in high school and beyond. They have their 50th high school reunion in October. Guess where we'll be then. We hope they visit us.

OTROS AMIGOS

Heather es de Elkins, WV. Joe es de Grass Valley, CA. Joe is el amigo de bicicleta del señor Jubilado.

Sunday, Sept. 12, we drove (40 miles, 1 1/2 hours) to Helvetia, WV, for lunch at the Hutte House. Helvetia is in the mountains. Way up in the mountains.

This is the menu.

This is my plate. Note the delicious-looking sauerkraut. Mmmmmm.

Helvetia is a tiny village founded by German-Swiss immigrants in the mid-19th century. The residents were celebrating their heritage on this particular weekend. Alpenhorns, folk dancing, bratwurst, sauerbrauten, cheese, beer, woolen blankets, yarn. Probably snow next week.

UNOS AMIGOS AND UN PASTEL

Here's the pastel, made with the last of the WV peaches in our town.

I made it to take to unos amigos, Maggi and Ed. Maggie es de Germany and Ed es de Georgia (the state, not the land). We are all jubilados. We had dinner together. They are about to go to Germany for 6 weeks. Guess where we will be when they get back. Correct answer=5 puntos.

SEPTIEMBRE

Otoño (autumn, fall--why do we have 2 words for it? I'm sounding like one of my students). El cumpleaños de mi querida hermana. At the end of septiembre. She's my única hermana. Yes, she's unique but she's also my only one. Unica means "only" when it's in front of "hermana" and "unique" when it's in back. (Spanish 102, near the end). So really, she's my única hermana única.

This is our last month in WV. In octubre we'll be in México.
