CABLECOM

A big day.

1. At 8:30 a.m. we arrived at MigraciĆ³n to wait outside in line until they opened at 9:00 (or 9:10). As "tercer edaders" we were second in line. We had the same woman as last time. She looked at everything, stapled things together, put them in file folders, disappeared for awhile, and then miraculously handed us 2 pieces of paper; she told us that we had identification numbers to look up on line and if they weren't there in 10 days, we should come back. She kept our visas. We see this as a good thing. We were happy. We went to market. Then we went downtown and bought a cabinet to put in the bathroom to hold all our bathing stuff. It will be delivered tomorrow.

2. Internet connection in the casita. All of you who guessed this is what was keeping us from moving in receive 5 puntos. The first time we went to Cablecom (the provider of said service) we hadn't brought our passports so we couldn't do anything. We were also told we needed FM3s (see above). The next time we went (sans FM3s) we brought passports prepared to argue for service without the youknowwhats. The woman who waited on us said that she needed to have some kind of receipt (gas, electric, etc.). We said we had a rental contract for 1 year but that we didn't have it with us. She said she would come to our place at 8:00 p.m. that evening for a copy of it. Then she said that if we paid $15 we could have the service installed Mon. between 2 and 5, and that the first month would be free. Yes! She came at 8 with her son, took the copy of our lease, and lo and behold, the guys came today and we ARE CONNECTED!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the room (guest room, office, etc.) we had them put it in.

Storage space? Closet?

Ladder to a creepy loft.

Door to the patio.

Looks like we need a desk to put it on. We went out and got one to be delivered on Sat.

  1. i thought i commented on the bread before this, but i don't see it anywhere. this weekend was family scene at lafontaine bakery. cookies galore! and no drama this year. anyway, the bread you found looks great. is it sourdough? and yes, i would love to see the inside, and i'd like to see the whole wheat sometime too.

congratulations! you seem to be sailing through your dealings with the beaurocracies. i stand in awe at the planning that went into your move. i'm glad it is paying off. what do you miss...pretzels?
