EL DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

The town was bustling with local folks looking at the various displays in honor of the dead. Here are a couple of examples:

El Jardín de la Corregidora

La Corregidora (the wife of El Corregidor, the colonial administrator) is a local heroine of the War for Independence. The array is around her statue.

All the different colored stuff is food. That's a whole cooked chicken in the lower left.

In some respects (ignoring the over-production of foodstuffs and the Christian symbolism), it looks like a zen garden. Well, maybe not.

In La Plaza de Armas, a/k/a La Plaza de Independencia, there was another patriotic display, this one involving all of the local heroes (La Corregidora again) of the War for Independence. Their names are listed on the back of the display (the first photo).

it's great you found a french baker. the breads photographed look a lot like my sourdough white. (but they're baguettes?) they look really good! does he also make pan integral?
    also, the casita-- nice!
